Foundations & Philanthropic Partners

We partner with Indian foundations and philanthropic institutions to support program delivery as well as organisational development through direct grants, multi-year partnerships, core or flexible funding, and other tailored funding models.

We are expanding our philanthropic partnerships to include international foundations, with a focus on building long-term partnerships from FY 2027-28 onwards.

What does this funding support?

Programme Funding

We co-deliver programmes with funders based on shared priorities, geographic needs, and SRI's on-ground expertise. Your support can power the Fellowship, the Dronacharya Programme, or a combined model, enabling children - many of them first-generation learners - to qualify for fully funded, high-quality government residential schools and reduce dropout after primary school.

This includes:

  • Preparing for entrance exams to residential schools such as JNVs, Sainik Schools, Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) and others
  • Improving Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) outcomes through direct academic support for Grades 4 & 5
  • Building capacity of government teachers and locally recruited youth Fellows
  • Strengthening school and community engagement with parents, SMCs, and local leaders to build programme ownership and sustainability

Organisation Building

Flexible, unrestricted funding lets us invest in the organisational foundation needed for lasting impact and responsible scale - the people, systems, and infrastructure behind our programmes.

This includes:

  • Growing and developing our team
  • Strengthening technology and data systems for learning tracking and monitoring
  • Investing in third-party research and evaluation to strengthen our evidence base
  • Building communications and organisational processes that improve programme quality and enable responsible scale

Case Studies

Reliance Foundation

Reliance Foundation

Reliance Foundation MET City partnered with SRI in 2018, becoming one of our earliest CSR partners, and has continued to stand alongside us through a shared commitment to expanding educational opportunities for children from under-resourced communities.

Their sustained support has enabled the Fellowship Model to strengthen foundational learning and prepare students for entrance examinations to high-quality government residential schools.

Over the years, this consistent partnership and joint effort have contributed to a significant shift in Jhajjar district of Haryana, where under-resourced students now account for around 50% of JNV representation, compared with less than 10% before the intervention.

The work has also contributed to increased enrollment in government primary schools and growing adoption of the programme across other nearby schools.

The partnership demonstrates what sustained CSR investment can unlock: stronger public education systems, greater representation of underserved children, and pathways to better educational opportunities.

Milton

Milton

Milton and SRI came together in 2024 around a shared priority: strengthening government education systems so children from under-resourced communities can access better learning outcomes and opportunities.

As the anchor funder for SRI's Dronacharya Programme in Uttarakhand, Milton's support enabled SRI to build government teachers' capacity to strengthen learning outcomes and prepare students for JNV and similar entrance examinations.

Working across Uttarakhand's challenging terrain, sustained funding helped SRI demonstrate the model and build evidence of impact.

This contributed to SRI securing a state-level partnership in 2026, covering all 13 districts of Uttarakhand, while bringing additional funders on board to support scale.

The partnership demonstrates how mission-aligned partners help strengthen a model, unlock public-system adoption, and enable scale that reaches the students who need these opportunities most.

Caring Friends

Caring Friends

Caring Friends and SRI share a commitment to expanding educational opportunities for children from under-resourced communities and creating pathways out of intergenerational poverty. Onboarding as a partner in 2025–26, Caring Friends is now supporting SRI for a second year, providing flexible funding to strengthen the people, systems and capabilities behind our programmes - from our central team and fundraising function to communications and organisational processes. Their structured approach to giving creates space for organisations like SRI to invest in the foundational needs to pursue systemic, long-term change, not just individual programmes. This partnership has helped SRI build greater readiness to launch programmes, communicate our impact effectively, and strengthen the organisational capacity required to scale sustainably.
